Latest on the Gaza Flotilla

The efforts of peace activists carrying letters, medical and other supplies to Gaza to challenge the Israeli blockade have resulted in much publicity and awareness. Latest reports here.

The French news website  Libération.fr reported on 6 July that the French ship Dignité in the "freedom flotilla" is now in international waters. The crew is determined to reach Gaza. There are 12 passengers on the French boat: eight activists, three crewmembers and a Libération.fr journalist. (our translation)

The Guardian (UK) newspaper reported on July 5th: "Activists seeking to break Israel's blockade of Gaza with a flotilla of aid ships appeared close to defeat on Tuesday as a self-imposed deadline expired and many of the international campaigners due to sail began to return home." Story, video here

A good report -- direct from the ship "Audacity of Hope" -- and with various flotilla participants (including Alice Walker, Ann Wright and Hedy Epstein) was broadcast on July 6th on Democracy Now! and is available there on-line and as text. (Click on link)
