..."This year, among the Kochs’ aims is to spend a projected four hundred million dollars in contributions from themselves and a small group of allied conservative donors they have assembled, to insure Republican victories in the 2018 midterm elections. Ordinarily, political reporters for Time magazine would chronicle this blatant attempt by the Kochs and their allies to buy political influence in the coming election cycle. Will they feel as free to do so now?"...

Women in Black: 20 years of opposition to occupation

Women in Black is inviting women to join their vigil on Friday, 28 December at Hagar (Paris) Square, Jerusalem at 13:00, on the 20th anniversary of the start of their weekly vigils against the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

Gila Svirsky writes from Jerusalem: "Thank you for all your good wishes... our ad in English ... appeared in Hebrew and English (quite big – a quarter of the page) in our weekend Ha’aretz newspaper.  This is an event of Women in Black – and our supporters – from all over Israel...

Our main banner reads:  20 years to Women in Black – End the Occupation! And we have added a banner that reads: End the siege of Gaza!We will also be holding some big, blown up photos of the stark effects of the occupation.

Some of the media have taken an interest, but most do not seem impressed by us standing every Friday for 20 years saying the same old thing.  We hope many people come, but I am not optimistic.  I’ll let you know.
To all our Muslim and Christian friends, happy holidays!"
