..."This year, among the Kochs’ aims is to spend a projected four hundred million dollars in contributions from themselves and a small group of allied conservative donors they have assembled, to insure Republican victories in the 2018 midterm elections. Ordinarily, political reporters for Time magazine would chronicle this blatant attempt by the Kochs and their allies to buy political influence in the coming election cycle. Will they feel as free to do so now?"...

"We are all Scott Olson"

Mina writes: In line with the recommendation of Iraq Veterans Against the War I am urging family and friends to call or email the Mayor Of Oakland, Jean Quan's Office

Many of us may want to help or show solidarity with Occupy Wall Street in some way, but don't know how.  Here is one way: make one phone call to Mayor Jean Quan's office.  That's the Mayor of Oakland.  Or send an email.

A little background:  Some of the best coverage on the ghastly police attack on OWS protestor, Scott Olsen, in Oakland, CA has been in the Guardian.  http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/oct/28/occupy-oakland-occupy-movement  Looking at the videos of the attack is devastating (and not for the faint of heart, very, very disturbing) but absolutely makes clear the attack on the young vet was not provoked by an aggressive or threatening act on Scott's part.  In line with the recommendation of Iraq Veterans Against the War I am urging family and friends to call or email the Mayor Of Oakland, Jean Quan's Office and ask for what you want to ask for.  For her to resign.  For her to fire the Chief of Police, for an independent (ie. not a police investigation) investigation.  For whatever you feel is appropriate in the circumstances. That number is 510-238-3141.
