Although Americans have heard little about it, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (also called TAFTA – Transatlantic Free Trade Agreement) has been negotiated between the US and the EU since July 2013 -- in secret!
In the US, Public Citizen has taken a lead in exposing and opposing the TAFTA. See their Factsheets: TAFTA's Threats to Consumers and the Environment and more.
A coalition of European groups has formed to block TAFTA/TTIP and two other international agreements:
CETA: The Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement has already been negotiated between the EU and Canada and is now being finalised.(See Stop CETA! Canada at risk)
TiSA: The Trade in Services Agreement is now under negotiation among 50 countries including the EU. See: Why International “Trade in Services Agreement” (TISA) is Dangerous to Democracy, Development, and the Public Interest, and Must Be Stopped!
