Can Time Inc. Survive the Kochs? November 28, 2017 By
..."This year, among the Kochs’ aims is to spend a projected four hundred million dollars in contributions from themselves and a small group of allied conservative donors they have assembled, to insure Republican victories in the 2018 midterm elections. Ordinarily, political reporters for Time magazine would chronicle this blatant attempt by the Kochs and their allies to buy political influence in the coming election cycle. Will they feel as free to do so now?"...

Statement by Women’s Organizations in Israel

From the Women in Black listserve and Gila Svirsky, peace activist Israel:

Following Israel's attack on Gaza the left in Israel, including the Coalition of Women for Peace came out with an emergency declaration and call for action: http://gazanow.wordpress.com/2008/12/31/international-call-join-us-act-now/

The Coalition of Women for Peace is also managing this website that includes activities in different places in the world. http://gazanow.wordpress.com

The Coalition of Women has been part of the ongoing Coalition against the Siege of Gaza that has been active around the siege on Gaza before the latest attack and massacre Israel conducts in Gaza.

In addition to daily protests in different parts of the country since Israel's attack on Gaza the Coalition continues its political activism within women's rights organization trying to mobilize them against the war. Reaching women from a wide range of political views to publicly say no to the war Israel is conducting against the Palestinians in Gaza is important in the society in Israel in which 81% of the Jews are supporting the war. It is also important around our ongoing political consciousness raising about the interconnectedness between oppressions.

We are also aware of the fact that we cannot reach peace without a just solution to the Israeli Palestinian conflict. As women's peace organizations we should create a feminist meaning to justice as well.

Gila Svirsky

Statement by Women’s Organizations in Israel, January 1, 2009

We women’s organizations from a broad spectrum of political views demand an end to the bombing and other tools of death, and call for the immediate start of deliberations to talk peace and not make war. The dance of death and destruction must come to an end. We demand that war no longer be an option, nor violence a strategy, nor killing an alternative. The society we want is one in which every individual can lead a life of security – personal, economic, and social.

It is clear that the highest price is paid by women and others from the periphery – geographic, economic, ethnic, social, and cultural – who now, as always, are excluded from the public eye and dominant discourse.

The time for women is now. We demand that words and actions be conducted in another language.
