WLOE congratulates Helena Norberg-Hodge

ISEC’s Director has just been named the 2012 recipient of the prestigious Japan-based Goi Peace Award.

"She is the first female winner of the award, joining a list of prominent international figures including James Lovelock, Bruce Lipton, Ervin Laszlo, Lester Brown, Deepak Chopra, Oscar Arias and Bill Gates." (Bill Gates?? - ed.)

The award recognizes Ms. Norberg-Hodge’s “pioneering work in the new economy movement to promote a more sustainable and equitable world”. The citation reads in part, “Through your outreach and educational activities advocating for localization, you have contributed to the revitalization of cultural and biological diversity, and the strengthening of local communities and economies worldwide.”  

This is a major honor for Helena personally, and represents a stunning endorsement of the work that she and ISEC have been doing over the decades.  She will receive the award at a gala event in Tokyo on November 25." More

Helena Norberg-Hodge was one of three directors of The Economics of Happiness, a documentary film on the problems of globalization and positive alternatives. WLOE e.V. prepared the German language subtitles and website section for the film. Congratulations Helena!
