Bay Area Women in Black: Black Friday March and Vigil in San Francisco

From California, the Bay Area Women in Black report on their action on Friday, November 29.

"Today, "Black Friday" (ed: re shopping) in San Francisco, California, USA, saw a convergence of groups calling for a boycott of specific products made on Palestinian lands illegally occupied by Israel, and for an end to the occupation.  The day also coincided with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People and with the National Days of Action to Stop SodaStream.  Bay Area Women in Black are grateful for co-sponsors and allies, including BDS-Berlin; Frauen in Schwarz, Wien; Jewish Voice for Peace; Sabeel; Students for Justice in Palestine (UC-Berkeley); Vrouwen in het Swart, Leuven; and Women in Black, Berkeley, Knoxville (TN), and London.  We're also grateful for the very capable escort provided by San Francisco Police Dept., Sgt. Phil Pera and our "angel," officer Michael.  Our action was covered by Washington Report on Middle East Affairs (WRMEA) reporters Elaine and Phil Pasquini.  A link to their newsfeed follows:

Tomorrow, Nov. 30, BAWIB will observe - at our regular Saturday vigil in Oakland -  the international "Day of Rage" against the Prawer-Begin plan designed to uproot Bedouin citizens from their lands and their homes.

On Sunday, Dec. 1, a group participating in the National Days of Action to Stop SodaStream will demonstrate in front of the Target-Metrion store on 789 Mission Street, San Francisco, from 3-4 pm.

Thank you all for your continued dedication to peace, justice, and human rights."
